Larkin overwhelms East

ROCKFORD - Elgin Larkin jumped off to a 20-0 lead and easily defeated East, 79-57, in the final tournament game for both teams Saturday afternoon in the East gym.

Ten different players scored for Larkin, which finished the tournament with a 3-2 record. Larkin and Proviso West each played an additional game so that all of the NIC-10 teams would play four games. East dropped to 1-3 heading into its NIC-10 season opener Wednesday against Harlem.

Kashmir Ivy led Larkin with 14 points. Kindrell Morris and Anthony Lynch each had 13 points. Jalen Shaw, the Royals' 6-10 center, sat out most of the game and finished with nine points.

East was led by Charles Burnell's 16 points. Chris Burnell added 15. The E-Rabs played without Scott Gowan, who is nursing an injured ankle.
