Burnell brothers lead East past LaFollette

ROCKFORD - Brothers Chris and Charles Burnell combined for 41 points to lead East to its first victory of the season, 67-59, over Madison LaFollette.

Chris, a sophomore, scored 22 points and Charles, a senior, tossed in 19 as East pulled away in the fourth quarter.

East led at all of the quarter stops but fell behind 52-51 with 5:37 to play before Chris Burnell's two-pointer and Alan Robinson's three put the Rabs (1-2) up 56-52.

Scott Gowan, a doubtful starter after injuring an ankle in Friday morning's game with Provison West, chipped in 14 points for East.

Julian Patton led Madison LaFollette with 23 points. Alex Berg and Nate Seward added 10 each for the Lancers.
