Jefferson holds off Proviso West

Quillen Dixon's three-point basket with 39 seconds to play lifted the J-Hawks over the Panthers in Wednesday's first game at Auburn.

Jefferson led most of the way but fell behind 58-57 when Proviso's Elijah Gipson converted a three-point play with 1:45 remaining, Following Dixon's heroics, the Panthers got off a three-point shot which missed and failed on four rebound tips attempts before Alishawuan Taylor was fouled and cashed in two free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining.

My'Quoin Garrett led Jefferson, 1-1, with 23 points. Dixon finished with 17. Dontonio Ward led Proviso West with 17 points. Robert Hill added 14 and Willante Williams 12 for the Panthers.
