St. Rita pulls away from Freeport in Tip-Off Classic opener

ROCKFORD - The Freeport Pretzels hung with Chicago St. Rita for two quarters before the Mustangs pulled away for a 72-45 win in the opening game of the fourth annual 205 Tip-Off Classic.

Myterrion Carter scored nine of his 13 points in the first half for the Pretzels, who trailed just 28-26 at halftime. Chicago St. Rita outscored the Pretzels 17-8 in the third quarter and pulled the starters early in the fourth.

Jeremiah Oden led St. Rita with 13 points and Landen Gladney scored 11. Twelve Mustangs scored.
