Second-half spurt again propels St. Rita

ROCKFORD - Chicago St. Rita scored the first 14 points of the second half to turn a competitive game against Guilford into a route.

The Mustangs' 67-44 win Tuesday moved their record to 2-0 in the 205 Tip-Off Classic. Monday,
they led by two at halftime against Freeport before pulling away to a 27-point win. Tuesday, they were up just 10 against a Vikings team that has just one senior before turning it on.

Doug Posley had 15 points for St. Rita, Jeremiah Oden added 13 and Landen Gladney and Jordan Matthews had 12 each.

Junior forward Samuel Stewart played the biggest part in keeping it close. He scored all 10 of his points in the first half.

St. Rita plays again Wednesday at Jefferson against Belvidere. Guilford is off until Friday when it plays Janesville Parker and Chicago Hyde Park.
