Harlem holds off Perspectives

ROCKFORD - The Harlem Huskies used a big first-half run to build up enough cushion to withstand a Chicago Perspectives run for a 65-60 win at East High School.

Perspectives, which lost its morning game to Auburn, jumped out to an 11-9 lead after a three-point shot by Darrion Mason. Harlem responded by scoring 23 of the next 31 points.

The Huskies pushed the lead to 52-33 at the end of three quarters before Perspectives, a 2A charter school, made things interesting.

The Wolves hit five three-pointers in the fourth quarter and whittled the lead to as little as five points. Still, Harlem held on for its first win of the season.

Mason was the high scorer for the game with 22 points and Jordan Lawson added 13. Harlem had 10 different players score. Junior Dane Dailing led the Huskies with 14 points and Lathan Lewis had 11.
