McArthur holds off Guilford to move to 2-0

ROCKFORD - Guilford's rally in the first game under coach Antonio Maestranzi fell just short as Hollywood (Fla.) McArthur moved to 2-0 in the 205 Tip-Off Classic with a 67-65 win at Auburn.

The Vikings trailed the Mustangs, 49-43, entering the fourth quarter, but McArthur kept opening the door by missing free throws. The Mustangs made just five of 13 free throws in the final eight minutes, but Guilford couldn't make enough shots to make them pay.

Tyler Knuth led Guilford (0-1) with 21 points, Jamil Jones had 12 and Jack Holmstrom had 10.

Jordan Howard led McArthur with 15 points, Andres Garcia had 14 and Rahmel Davis and David Pack had 13 each. Isaiah Gissendanner had just one basket for McArthur, but it was a rebound shot in the final 20 seconds that gave the Mustangs a 67-64 lead.
