Guilford rallies to sink Marina

ROCKFORD - The Guilford Vikings finished the 205 Tip-Off Classic 3-1 after scoring 11 of the last 15 points to beat the Marina Vikings from Huntington Beach, California, 43-41.

Tied at 41, Marina was holding the ball for the last shot when Joey Saunders stole the ball with under five seconds left and found Jamil Jones open for the game-winning score.

Leading 28-27 entering the fourth quarter, Jakob Alamudun looked to take over the game for Marina. The 6-4 forward scored six points and assisted on another basket as Marina opened a 37-32 lead. Guilford turned the tide by looking inside. Senior Sam Stewart scored six of his 10 points in a run to tie the game at 41, setting up Saunders' heroics.

Nikolas Stadelman led the Vikings with 12 points, Stewart had 10 and Tyler Knuth added eight.

Alamudun finished with 15 points for Marina, which fell to 2-1, and Tim Fronek had nine.
