Jefferson opens Tip-Off play with win over Perspectives

Randy Johnson scored 22 points and Jefferson led most of the way in making new head coach L.C. Robinson's debut a success, beating Chicago Perspectives 60-49 at Guilford High School Friday.

After trailing 5-0 at game's start, Perspectives scored eight straight points to lead 8-5 and 8-7 before the J-Hawks took the lead for good.

Jefferson led 26-17 at halftime but had to weather a brief Perspectives rally in the third quarter. Trailing 32-21, the Warriors ran off 10 straight points to close to within one point but never got closer.

Robinson is a former Jefferson basketball and football star who took the job after being an assistant at Rockford East High School for the past several seasons.
