Auburn ends 205 Tip-Off Classic with big win

The Auburn Knights jumped on Elgin Larkin early and didn't let up, cruising to a 71-43 win over the Royals to close out the 205 Tip-Off Classic.

It was a fitting end to the annual showcase tournament because Larkin and Auburn have played the most games in the Thanksgiving event's history. Auburn is 20-12 in the eight years of the 205 Tip-Off Classic, while Elgin Larkin finishes 16-19 after going 1-3 this year.

The Knights took the suspense out of this game early, scoring 28 points in the opening quarter to grab an 18-point lead. The Royals would never cut the deficit under 10 points. Seniors Adrian Agee and Brennan Horton-Lee did most of the damage in the first eight minutes. Agee scored 10 of his game-high 22 points in the run and Horton-Lee had nine of his 15 points.

Auburn also got 11 points from Rakim Chaney.

The Royals played the week without its top returning player, Jacob Blakely, who is out with a knee injury. Larkin had another scare Saturday when Darnell Wilder, its leading scorer this week, twisted his knee and ankle in the third quarter. Wilder never returned and finished with eight points. Adrien Colen-York led Larkin with 12 points.
