Auburn press too much for Farragut, Knights win 68-61

ROCKFORD -- A stingy man-to-man defense by Auburn wore down a larger Chicago Farragut team as the Knights opened the 2015-2016 season with a 68-61 win.

Farragut's 6-4 senior guard Dulon Scott did his part, scoring 28 points. But 6-8 center Tawone Keith was held to six points by a swarming Auburn defense that gave up few passes to the interior.

Trayvon Tyler led Auburn with 21 points, including hitting four of the Knights' nine three-point shots. Daevion Dixon added 12 for Auburn. Auburn's tallest players, 6-2 Juwane Parchman and 6-1.
Devon Richardson scored 15 points between them, more than offsetting the Admirals' height advantage.

Auburn plays Elgin Larkin Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Auburn. Farragut doesn't play again until Friday when it plays South Elgin at Rockford East High School.
